Military BnB Platform Expands Guest Safety Measures
Sep 1, 2025 – Foxhole, the new BnB platform built for Active Duty, Veterans, and Military Dependents, is strengthening guest safety by requiring civilian property hosts to pass a criminal background check before listing their properties.
Civilians wishing to host on Foxhole will be screened for violent, financial, and property crimes; sex offender registry listings; and government watch lists prior to approval. To maximize safety for guests, civilian hosts will also be screened annually while active on the platform.
“We want our guests to have the best possible stay with Foxhole,” said William Collins, co-founder and CEO of Foxhole. “Knowing that a civilian host has cleared a background check from a trusted vendor will give our community the peace of mind they deserve.”
Foxhole has partnered with SafestHires, Inc., a veteran-owned background screening company launched in 2015, to perform these checks. SafestHires will confirm a person’s identity against publicly available databases and review any relevant records before approval.
“We are honored to be a Foxhole partner,” said SafestHires co-founder and CEO Andrew Andersen. “We salute William and his team for their commitment to guest safety.”
Foxhole’s background check policy closely mirrors industry standards from other BnB platforms, with a balance between safety and fairness.
General host rules include:
-
A conviction for murder, rape, terrorism, or child molestation results in a permanent ban from Foxhole.
-
Listing on a sex offender registry results in a permanent ban.
-
Convictions for less serious financial, property, or personal crimes result in a 14-year ban from the date of conviction.
-
For minor offenses, such as DUI or disorderly conduct, Foxhole does not impose a ban.
“Guest safety is paramount,” said Collins.
Outside the U.S., civilian hosts are screened against international financial sanctions and terrorism watchlists.
This background check requirement will not apply to Active-Duty military hosts, who are subject to continuous criminal monitoring while serving.
